Will a Bidding Directory Give You the Type of Links That You Need?

April 9, 2008

Several years ago, it was easy to rank well in Google, or any of the other search engines for a wide variety of keywords.  The only thing that you needed to do was to put up a webpage that was optimized for those keywords and then to throw a couple links in its direction.  The problem is that many people began to game the search engines and to abuse this particular method of ranking well for their keywords.  As a result, the search engines, and especially Google began to change the way that they look at links.

There are several different types of links that you can have.  One of the first that was used on the Internet was known as reciprocal linking.  This was a way of exchanging links with another website.  They give you an incoming link from their website and you point to link back to them from the same website.  These were the first type of links to become discredited in Google’s eyes.  That isn’t to say, however, that they are totally useless.  Some people are still able to rank quite well if they use reciprocal linking in relatively small measure.

Three-way linking is one of the newcomers onto the scene although it has been around for a few years now.  This is a way of forming a link triangle where none of the links are actually pointing back to where a link originates from.  Some of the linking patterns that are used become quite complex.  This method of linking works well but there is always the danger of being discovered and having your website totally discredited in the eyes of the search engines.  Anytime you are gaming the search engines in this way you run the risk of being detected.

Other than getting a one-way link to your website, which can be quite difficult as not many people want to give out those links any longer, you need to find a way to position your link on some kind of authority webpage.  One of the only ways that you can do this without running the risk of being accused of cheating is by using a bidding directory.  These directories are fairly simple to understand.  You purchase links on their website in an auction type atmosphere that places your link on their website according to how you rank in the auction. The higher your bid, the better of a link you will receive.

Taking part in a bidding directory is a great way to be able to give your webpages a little bit of weight in the eyes of Google.  It is a part of a good search engine optimization routine, one that can help you to rank for any number of keywords.  If you take the time to make sure that you are positioned well as far as your back links are concerned, you would be surprised with how much organic search engine traffic will actually come your way.
