Webmasters know that search engine optimization brings maximum traffic to a website. However if implemented wrongly, search engine optimization can do more harm than good to your website. This is because the wrong techniques implemented in SEO can lead to your website getting supplemented, blacklisted and even banned by major search engines.

• Meta tag stuffing is a no no in search engine optimization where you use too many title tags and keywords in the Meta tags. This tactic shows that you are desperate to get a good ranking using unfair means; which is not advisable. Use only a few important keywords in the Meta tag as it is only with these keywords that you will be getting a good search engine ranking on the internet.

• Use of hidden text in web pages is not at all advisable as though this text cannot be seen by surfers; it is crawled by the search engines. This gives the website an unfair advantage in search engine rankings.

• There are many people who use unrelated keywords in their websites. However this is not a good option to try at improving search engine rankings. You have to use only keywords that have some connection to the important content of your site. Once you use irrelevant keywords in the website, you are sure to get caught by search engines some time or later, and will have to face the axe here.

• In a bid to increase the amount of traffic to a website, many people turn to the help of link exchanges. However as there are many link exchanges available today, it is important that you choose the right link exchange. This is because if you get linked to bad neighborhoods through links to a link farm, you face the risk of the search engines banning your internet presence. However if link farms establish links to your websites, then you will not be penalized.

• When linking to other websites, avoid getting linked to penalized and blacklisted websites. This is because though you may not be doing anything wrong or illegal on your site, there is a possibility of you being blacklisted for being linked with banned websites.

So remember to avoid all these steps when working at optimizing your website as all these steps will only lead to your website getting blacklisted. And the blame for being blacklisted will be solely yours which may lead to your website being removed from the internet.

    Hi! The tips you had given is positively true. All those tips must avoid because it will only lead websites in getting blacklisted. Take note: Being blacklisted, a website will be removed from the internet. This post is a good reminder for everyone who is a website builder. You give people an idea on what they are going to do when it comes to a website building. There are a lot of things that must avoid in building a strong and worry free website. Thanks to the author.
